Admission requirements

What international applicants need to submit: academic, financial and medical records. Documents not in English need a certified English translation.

To apply to United International University as an international student, submit documents that prove the criteria below. If an original record is not in English, send a certified English translation with it.

Academic criteria

International students, particularly those outside the O-Level and A-Level system, should have:

  • 12 years of schooling for an undergraduate programme.
  • Physics and mathematics at A-Level or equivalent for BSEEE, BSCE and BSCSE.
  • 12 years of schooling plus a bachelor's degree for a graduate programme.
  • At least 50 % marks, or an equivalent grade in their own education system.
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores if the previous medium of instruction was not English. Minimum TOEFL: 550 (PBT), 160 (CBT), 55 (iBT). Minimum IELTS: 6.0.
  • SAT (undergraduate) or GRE/GMAT (graduate) is preferred.
  • Some departments have additional requirements.

Financial records

Submit with your application:

  • Bank statements for the last 3 months
  • A bank solvency certificate

The statement and certificate can be in your name or your parent's or guardian's name.

Medical records

  • A recent health fitness report (particularly HIV, hepatitis, yellow fever, Ebola or any contagious disease).
  • International students must be insured for medical cover, including check-ups and hospitalisation. UIU can help you arrange insurance with a reputable insurer in Bangladesh.
